Another great weekend in Thunder Nation;

The Thunder Tyke (6-8) team, who had a lot of key players from last year's power house Tyke team all move up to our Atom team and with only six returning players and fourteen rookies all playing football for the first time, played their first game of the season today against the Brampton Bulldogs and came away with an 18-0 victory. Standout Thunder players in the Tyke game were RB/MLB Jaylin Grant and OL/DL Mirko Gospodinov. Jaylin had 2 TD's on offense and a bunch of tackles on defense. Mirko was the other standout player, he dominated the game on the line, on both sides of the ball.

The Atom (9-10) team, with a very talented veteran core and a very talented rookie core who all moved up from last year's power house Tyke team, also played their first game of the season against the Etobicoke Eagles and also came away with the victory, beating the Eagles 24-7. Standout Thunder player in the game was RB/LB Gregory Sutton who played outstanding on both sides of the ball, on offense punishing the opposition with crushing runs up the middle and brutally efficient lead blocking and on defense leading defensive unit with his effort, leading by example as a defensive captain should, holding the opposition to one touchdown.

The Peewees (11-12) were off this weekend, enjoying their BYE week.

The Bantam (13-14) team were on the road in Cap City, facing the Ottawa Myers Riders and put on a dominating performance, beating the Riders 40-0. it is no surprise they had a few standout players. On Offense, the standout players were QB Kayrus Sam who against a capable and well coached Myers secondary, went through all of his reads and progression to find the open receiver and complete his second TD pass of the game, Also on Offense, another standout player was FB/DL Mohamed Yassine who was an unstoppable force. Not only did Mohamed score 2 TD's on 4 carries, he also came up with multiple tackles and sacks on defense. On Defense standout players were LB Kirill Hamedi Niari who helped to stop the Riders offense. His all over the field play secured him an interception which he returned for a 20 yard TD. The other standout player on Defense was DB Deonte Jean who helped the Thunder defense post their second shutout of the season. In addition to helping with the shutout, he recorded his first ever interception.

The Jr. Varsity (15-16) team were also in Cap City to face Ottawa Myers Riders and had a very tough outing, loosing 49-14 to the Riders. Standout Thunder player was RB Dante Jean-Noel, who had 125 yards on 11 carries.

Last but not least, the Sr. Varsity team were also in Cap City taking on Ottawa Myers Riders, and capped off the Triple Header with a very impressive outing, coming away with the victory, beating the Riders 35-15. Standout Thunder players were SB Gregory Willard and FS Jake Kelly. On Offense Greg had 5 receptions for 116 yards and a TD. On Defense Jake had 3 interceptions.

Great job to all the coaches and managers on all teams and to all the parents who travelled on the road, supported and cheered on players our players. #RollThunderRoll #ScarboroZoo #PurpleCity #Thunder4Life
